Wilier was founded as Ciclomeccanica Dal Molin in 1906 by Pietro Dal Molin. The name Wilier, pronounced Vee-lee-air, is an acronym. Italians use 'W' as a written abbreviation for the word 'Viva'. For example 'W il Giro!'. Therein we arrive at the patriotic decree 'W l’Italia LIberata E Redenta'. WILIER. Production began over a century ago, in a small workshop along the banks of the river Brenta, at Bassano del Grappa, and since then has proudly maintained its founding father's vision, one forged in chromium and nickel-plating. The brand we see today - Wilier Triestina, arrived in 1945, when the company began to focus more specifically on road bikes. This drive eventually provided the Wilier Triestina team with a Giro success, when Fiorenzo Magni took the title in 1947. Later they would taste victory once more, this time in the late 1990s, with Marco Pantani, who famously broke the record for the fastest ascent of Alpe D'Huez.
Modern Day Wilier sees it been ridden by Greats like Marco Pantani, and in more recent times under the legs of the Lampre Team. Damiano Cunego and Allesandro Ballan have piloted their Cento 1 to numerous victories like the 2008 World Championships, Tour of Lombardy and Vuelta Stages.
